High Productivity System for urban spaces
The Tecnova Technology Center works with the companies Novagric, Polímero Gestión Industrial, Alarcontrol and Induser, in the construction and start-up of a High Productivity system for urban spaces. Through the FEDER Innterconecta call, from the CDTI (Center for Industrial Technological Development) the group of companies join forces for the development of what may mean a change in the fruit and vegetable production system.
Tecnova’s Greenhouse Technology area has provided companies with support for the calculation of the structure, agronomic advice, both in design and management, and will be in charge of validating the system on the experimental farm.
Greendomo for a simple cultivation and use of resources
This project pursues the objective of implementing a large-scale urban cultivation system that can be architecturally integrated into the city. Hence, its profile to be able to implement it in a diversity of outdoor spaces, such as: parks, green areas, terraces or attics of urban buildings.
Greendomo arises from the need to supply the final consumer with healthier, healthier and fresher food, making it an opportunity to meet the growing demand for food and achieve an optimal supply of the population. This development will bring agriculture closer to the city, promoting the professionalization of city agriculture and promoting quality employment in this sector.
In addition, the design has a geodesic dome-shaped structure, which isolates the crop from the outside environment and facilitates climate management due to its unique shape, it has both physical and mechanical structural qualities required to undergo permanent and variable actions.
The different conditions of this new production model create a mode of production that fits in with the current demand for waste-free food, close to the consumer and free from discharges to the environment, generating a tool for implementation in urban areas.
A project in favor of the environment
The environment plays an essential role in this project that seeks to take advantage of energy resources. In addition, this type of cultivation offers a higher yield, which results in less use of the land; As it is a proximity crop, it implies a reduction in the carbon footprint by saving transport from the countryside to the city; It entails, thanks to the shape of the geodesic dome, a better use of solar radiation and easier environmental control.
